Prayer Need for December 10, 2010

Dear Friends and fellow Intercessors,

Tonight I received a call from a dear friend in Louisiana.  Our friendship goes back to the 1970's when I met Don and Vera Wells.  We worked together in State missions for about 20 years, including youth camps and Ladies Retreats.

After retiring they felt the need to move near their daughter and family in Louisiana.  They have continued to be active in the work of the Lord.

Recently Vera went to the emergency because of being jaundice.  From the emergency room she was admitted to the hospital.  Test results found an embedded kidney stone which had caused her kidney to enlarge.  The Doctors' placed a stint to bring about drainage to give her some relief.  She said at first there was pure blood, but now her kidney function is fine and there is no trace of blood.

Other test results, revealed a mass in/on/around other organs such as her gall bladder, pancreas, and liver.  The test results have not come back - but after praying with her on the phone tonight, I told her I would also call on my community of intercessors to pray.

This is what we asked the Lord for.  Would you please join us in agreeing in prayer for the same.

Pray that:  the mass is not cancer.  God can do this for Vera His child.

I'll keep you posted as she continues to give me updates.

Thanks for praying for one of God's little warriors and missionaries.

Schelly -

"Please pray for my friend Schelly. She is extremely nauseated from the chemo." was sent to me today.

Friends of Schelly are reaching out to us for prayer.  Please intercede for this young woman whom we may never meet.  It really doesn't matter.  I can not put a face with her name, but I know that our Lord knows her by name, and knew her name when she was in her mother's womb.

A God so all knowing, knows she is extremely sick from the chemo.  We must pray that God gives her Grace to stand, and also that He would cause the nausea to nil.

Thanks

A note from Schelly

I received this only this morning.  For those of you who have called Shelly's name in prayer, I thank you.  My heart melts with hers as she battles the unknown.  Please keep her on your mind, and her list below will serve as a reminder of how to pray.  Agreeing together on her behalf is what our support scripture means, "where even two agree on earth as thouching anything they shall ask, it shall be done."

Yours for intercession,
Doris

First I want to thank each of you who has emailed me or prayed for me. The support has helped my morale more than you know.

I met my Oncologist, Dr. Makhoul, today and he is fabulous. I wish I could say the same for this disease. I hate it. With every fiber of my being I hate it.

Some things are still unknown. We do know it is a Grade 3, which is the fastest-growing and most aggressive form of cancer, but it also usually the most responsive to Chemo.

I have a PET Scan and Brain MRI on Wed to see if it has spread, plus a nuclear heart test to see if my heart can withstand one of the chemo drugs. The plan now is to use 3 different chemo drugs, with treatments every 2 weeks for a total of 8 sessions.

I hope to start Chemo next Friday.

They will stage the cancer after the PET. Tentatively it is stage IIB (being just under the wire for stage III at 4.9 cm versus 5 cm). If the PET shows it has spread, is is automatically stage IV and it would be up to God to heal me at that point. I won't find out the results until next Friday. It will be a very long 8 days.

A sweet friend suggested I come up with specific prayer requests for those that are praying for me. I welcome any all prayers, but these are my specific prayers.

1. For God to be made known throughout this entire ordeal to those watching it and especially to my children.

2. That I will lean on Him like I never have before. That I will allow Him to comfort me instead of seeking other outlets so I can teach that to my children.

3. That the PET scan will be clear and it has not spread.

4. That the Chemo will kill the beast. I mean kill it DEAD!!

5. That I will not have a reaction to any of the medications.

6. That I will learn how to ask others for help (This is VERY hard for me).

7. That I will have the time and energy to continue to school and hang with my precious boys.

8. That I will have the time to work enough each week to keep sales coming in.

9. That this will bring my family closer together.

10. That I will remember to laugh.

Schelly

Prayer needs for October 28, 2010

There are several prayer needs to pass on to you this morning.

1.  One of my son-in-law's is a Dyalisis nurse.  Having to wash his hands so often between patients, his hands have become raw almost to the point of un-usuable.  Please pray for him - that his hands will be restored to their God given skin without irritation.

2.  AIMEE IS DOING GREAT !! BUT BOB JUST EMAILED ME. HE HAS BEEN UNDER A LOT OF STRESS FOR THE PASS 8 MONTHS. HIS JOB PLAYED OUT, HE'S HAS REALLY BEEN STRUGGLING. BOB HAS HAD A HEART ATTACK BEFORE, WITH THIS EXTRA STRESS CAUSING CHEST PAINS. HE WENT TO THE DR FOR ANOTHER STRESS TEST 5 MONTHS AGO, THEN WENT TODAY THE DR. COMPARED IT FROM THE LAST ONE DONE. THE DR IS PUTTING HIM IN THE HOSPITAL TONIGHT DOING BLOOD WORK AND TOMORROW DOING A HEART CATH. HE ASKED ME TO CONTACT YOU ALL FOR PRAYERS FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY.

3.  BOB, AIMEE'S DAD, JUST EMAILED ME FROM HIS PHONE IN THE HOSPITAL THAT "TOMORROW " HE IS HAVING QUADRUPLE BYPASS SURGERY ! AND ASK IF YOU ALL WOULD PRAY FOR HIM.

So there we have all three needs.  What if - just WHAT IF - these people only had you and I to pray for them?  WHAT IF - their answer was dependent on my and your prayers?

With that in mind, let's earnestly intercede for them, that God would bring Bob through the bypass surgery to full recovery and health.  That my son-in-law would receive restoration healing in his hands.  Our God can do this. OUR GOD is a Healer.  He is also a restorer -  He still touches, and He still CARES for those who are physically hurting.

Yours for intercession,
Doris

Schelly needs us again. Please Pray

Hello friends,

It pains me to read the new note from Schelly.  Please do not fail to pray to this young woman who is reaching out for support.  Often at times like this I feel helpless, until I remember that what I have to offer her is the most powerful of all aid - PRAYER.  Again, she needs us, strangers that we are, so take her on a pallet of prayer to the HEALER.  Often we seek healing on the behalf of others, however I want us to refocus and seek the HEALER on her behalf.  Thanks again for joining with me in prayer.  I will post anything about her that I receive so as to keep you updated.

Yours for intercession
Doris

Hello all. I greatly appreciate all who are praying for me. This is all happening so fast that it is hard to take it all in.

I was not comfortable with the general surgeon I was sent to concerning my situation so I called UAMS Breast Center first thing this morning and have been there all day.

There are either, 2 masses one on top of the other, Or it is just one mass and they could only see part of it on my previous test and goes much deeper than it showed originally. The surgeon thinks it is the latter.

He did 5 needle biopsies of each mass or section and they are both 100 percent positive for cancer. It is invasive cancer, and not in situ, meaning it has spread outside of the ducts. At this point that is all they know. The full pathology report will tell different things about it, like whether it is hormonal growth based and will respond to anti-hormone meds. That will be back in 4 or 5 days.

I am having an MRI tomorrow to see if it has spread to my chest wall and I am going to Pre-Op tomorrow and they will do a chest xray, EKG & bloodwork.

On Friday, I am having a lymph node biopsy under anesthesia and they are injecting one color dye in my breast and another color in my arm to isolate the infected lymph nodes (if any) and to try to spare my arm nodes if possible. Injecting the second dye in the arm is actually experimental and I will be part of a research study. The problem with this is that people allergic to shellfish or make-up tend to be allergic to the second dye. I am allergic to shellfish... But they will have anti-allergy meds standing by. He left the choice up to me, but taking too many lymph nodes in the arm can lead to Lymphedema with arm swelling and it is very hard to treat. I chose the allergy risk over that.

He highly recommended chemo before removing the mass/breast for 2 reasons. 1) It will help with any cancer that might have spread. 2) Having a mass that can be measured will tell them in advance of the surgery which chemo drugs the cancer responds to. So, they will also put in a port on Friday and I should see an Oncologist next week.

This is totally different than the course of action recommended by the first surgeon and I am SO GLAD I went to UAMS.   (note:  University of Arkansas Medical Science)

I am exhausted.

Prayer request Oct. 15, 2010

Hello Fellow Intercessors,

Today I received the following prayer request.  This being breast cancer awareness month, makes this request very timely.  While many people are walking in "Race for the Cure" tomorrow morning here in LR., it would be a great opportunity to pray for this need.

How scared she must be - being a single mom who is trying to juggle her responsibilities, we never seem to make time for ourselves and for sure the scare of breast cancer can be very unsettling.

"OH Lord of Love, our Great God of compassion, It is YOU oh Lord who lifts us up, restores relationships, heals bodies and even raises the Dead.  It is YOU oh Lord, to whom we turn when our situations are overwhelming, and troubles intrude on our lives that are too big for us the mortals we are.
I praise you for all the prayers you have answered for me, I praise you for your intervention in my life when I was face with surmountable mountains too big for me to climb, the times when you came and walked beside me, encouraging me to keep moving.  It is You I need today for our friend Schelly who needs peace.  Your Peace that passes our understanding.  Your Peace Oh Lord to clothe her as in a warm blanket.  Surround her with people who care, and people who will encourage her to KEEP trusting YOU.  It is YOU who Heals, it is YOU who guides the surgeons hands.  It is YOU Oh Lord, that can make this knot, or lump to be benign - only a cyst.
Lord I thank you that you have heard this prayer from my heart.  I bring Schelly to You, for You are the Healer.  Thank you Lord for answering our prayer.  I trust you.
In Jesus Name, Amen

Schelly's Request in her words.
On Tuesday I found a very large, hard lump in my chest. I had a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound today.

It is a fast-growing and irregular shaped solid mass and they will be sending me for a biopsy at a breast surgeon. Probably not until next week.

It is all happening so fast and I am trying to keep it together.

For those of you who don't know, I am a single work-at-home mom who home schools her two boys. Life is already a struggle juggling homeschooling, running a household and working.

I am having a hard time with this, and the waiting is a killer.
I greatly appreciate your prayers.

Request for prayer 9-15-2010

Another request for prayer has been sent to me this morning.  In passing it on, I urge each of you to stop and pray for pastor McClung.  This has to be a big surprise to him and his family.  when I say Pancreatic cancer it leaves a taste of incurable in the air.  It could leave us with feelings of hopelessness.  Momentarily the feeling of "How sad" flows through us.  Then we remember that OUR GOD is not limited in His Power,  It is then we start to pray.  It is then our faith rises above our fears, and calls out to God in the behalf of another.

This time we will collectively cry out to God for Pastor McClung.  The information below is what I received.  Thanks for praying.

Dear Friends,

I just received word that one of my favorite pastors, Bro. Paul McClung, is in Baptist Hospital (NLR). He went into the ER last night with severe pain. They thought it was his gall bladder. The doctor also stated that it could be kidney stones or pneumonia in the bottom of his lung so they did lots of test.

Tests results showed that it looks like pancreatic cancer that may have already spread to his liver. The doctor saw 5 spots on the liver. They are doing a liver biopsy this morning to be sure of what they are dealing with.

It is hard to put into words how special Bro. Paul is to so many people, including myself. I met him first when I was a youth minister in 1991. He was a great advisor to me and friend. He later was my pastor for many years.

I ask that you please not only pray for him yourself, but spread the word. Our God is still in the miracle business!

Prayer Need September 14, 2010

This is from my sister whom I requested prayer for last month.  She had learned the benefit of our community of intercessors and is now asking for help for someone else.  For herself she reports that her blood count is slowly rising, and at last check it was 10.8.  It is my understanding that the ideal is 15.  She is taking the Procrit shots, so we look forward to hearing more good reports from my sister.

Here is the request she sent to us.

"Just had a couple in here to pick up their boat. They have an 11 year old daughter (Shyanaa) that has been diagnosed with a rare form of aggressive cancer and is being treated at Vanderbilt. Cannot remember the name of it, but it is something very rare and is usually found in foreign countries, not America. Thought this was something for the intercessors."

Thanks for praying for Shyanna.  God is still in the prayer answering business.

Yours for intercession,
Doris

This is a request I received two of yesterday and this morning.  I know this family well, and how they are holding up watching two of their sisters in 5 months time succomb to cancer I do not know except for the Grace of Almighty God.

Please call Sue's name out to God.
Then call her sister Sarah,
Her brothers Carlton, James, Paul Green for God to give them His grace and strength in this trying time.

Here is the prayer request as it came to me.  Thanks for interceeding.

******
Please pray for Carlton's sister, Carolyn Sue Stegall. Her cancer came back a few months ago and she has been told that there was nothing the doctors could do for the cancer. A couple weeks ago she was in the hospital for other health problem. On Monday last week she had a stroke that was located in her speech part of her brain and was unable to speak. By Tuesday afternoon she was able to speak short phrases. Wednesday morning, last week, she had a larger stroke in the same area and was once again unable to speak. She was moved to the Acute Stroke Unit of North Mississippi Medical Center. Yesterday the doctors told the family that there was nothing else they can do for her and she was moved to Sanctuary Hospice House located on west side of Tupelo.

Please pray Sue and also for Carlton, his other sister and 2 other brothers. Their oldest sister went to be with the Lord in March, this year, from Melonoma Cancer. It was really hard to go in to see her yesterday. She does recognize you and reaches out and grasps your hand and holds very tight. She is still unable to speak which makes it harder at such a time as this.

Also pray for her husband, Kelly, who is suffering from Parkinson disease and for her 3 children and their families.

I know nothing is impossible with God however if he needs Sue more than we do, please pray that the family will be able to accept that and put Sue in God's hands.

Thanks so much for all your prayers. if you have a prayer chain please add Sue and her family to your prayer chain.

I will get Sue's address just in case some of you want to send cards to her and the family.

Love you all

Mary Green

Hello fellow Intercessors.

I talk with my youngest sister today.  I knew she has not been well, but today I think the impact of her illness finally hit me.

She has a blood disease - or more accurately a "bone marrow failure disease".  Frankly I have never heard of this, but her marrow does not produce red blood cells.  The disease itself has a long name which I'll try to spell correctly.  "Myelodysplastic Syndrome"

So far there is no cure and only temporary fixes.  One being to get Procrit shots.  Only when she is at the point of death, will they consider a bone marrow transplant which they don't give her much hope in even living through such surgery.

After her Doctor's visit today, her blood count was 9.8 and falling each time she goes to be checked.
I told her about our prayer chain, and that I would request prayer for her.

I'm hurting for her, and want the Lord to do a work in her body.  Nothing is too big for Him, and with the collective prayers of each of you, my sister can walk in health and spiritual wholeness.

Please agree with me that the Lord do a miracle.  I understand miracles come through obedience.  Taking the examples of Jesus at the marriage - through obedience the best wine came forth to finish the festivities.
Then when there was no money for the Taxes to be paid, Jesus told his disciples to go fishing - they did and the fish they caught had in his mouth the amount they needed.  Oh yes, obedience goes a long way in getting what we ask of the Lord.

Thanks for praying, please tell others to help you pray.

Yours through intercession.

Even though the requests have been coming in slowly, doesn't mean someone doesn't need prayer.  This came across my desk this morning, dated a couple days ago.

"Please pray for Pat, he is having some health problems. He has been battling it for a while. The last two nights it has gotten worse and he has had to sleep in a chair. I know that GOD can heal him."

Though you don't know Pat, God does.  Thanks to each of you who take time to pray for him.  God has not gone to sleep, He has not turned His head from our cries, nor a deaf ear from hearing us.  It is HIS WILL to do good to His children.

Thanks for Praying,

This request was just brought to my attention.  In passing it on to you I'll suggest that we call
David Washington's name out to God and be specific for him.  Pray that David feel God's presence as he sees the killer get justice.  Pray that David will learn to forgive the man so that God will take revenge on him.   Pray that David and his family find peace through the whole trial process.  Pray that God shows David how to be an advocate against violence so he can turn his hatred into energy for a good cause.
God is able to do all this and more.

Thanks - your partner in intercession,
Doris

"Please keep my family in your prayers my mom isn't doing well she has been in the hospital almost 2 weeks, they have decided they want to do surgery again. A little scared last time she has surgery she almost didn't wake up.

Kendall (my husband) is 4 rooms down from her with some heart issues they think he is having mini strokes ...so running a bunch of test not sure when he will come home either."

NOTE:  The above request is from a friend of mine in Oklahoma.  Thank you for helping me  take this family on a pallet of prayer to Jesus who suffered stripes for our healing.

Oh Father, the Francis family needs you tonight.  Father, I ask you to guide the Doctors in their decisions that affect Kerri's Mother and Kendall her husband.  May they run tests that shows the problem areas of their body.  I know your Word speaks of the "truth" that sets us free.  When we know what we are dealing with, there is no darkness where the accuser can tempt us with lies.  Lord your word is a lamp unto our feet, and a light to our path.  Thank you that you have given us FAITH to move mountains.  The mountain of worry, concern, illness, and unanswered questions are mountains I speak to tonight.  In Jesus Name you will come down oh Mountain of worry, illness and the darkness which tries to shroud our future.

My God will bring truth into each  life, and increase our faith to believe that He is in control, and this too shall pass.

In Jesus Name,

Thanks everyone for praying,

It has been brought to my attention that a friend of mine who lives in Mississippi is very ill.  She was diagnosed with colon cancer last year, but it has been in remission for many months.  I got to see Sue when we visited our home church on "Homecoming" and really thought she was doing well.  However since two weeks ago, there have been several tests that show the cancer is now in her lumbar spine.

Naturally our question is "How long do I have"? to which the Doctor's reply has been "the best we can calculate  about 18 months."

Her pain is excruciating and even in the face of her pain, she holds on to faith in what God is capable of doing in dire circumstances.

Sue's husband has Parkinson's and therefore of little help to her.  You may pray how you feel led to pray, however my prayer will be like this.

"Oh God who sees everything. Oh Lord who feels our pain.  Oh Jesus who suffered stripes for our healing - bring a miracle to my friend Sue.  There is nothing too hard for thee and I believe the day of Miracles is not over.  Your Word tells us "without Faith, it is impossible to please God," and Lord I know Sue's faith has been a testimony of your power at work in her life.

Please Lord, reward her faith with a miracle.  I believe you can.  However I pray your will be done in all things.

In Jesus name  AMEN

Doris

April 22, 2010 Prayer request

A prayer request has been breought to my attention and I want to pass it on.  Someone from my writing group is in the Critical care unit of our local hospital.  Les is an author and all round great man.  He has internal bleeding, and the Doctor is doing everything he can to releave him of his suffering.  I understand he has sarosis (not sure of spelling) of the liver.

His wife is concerned about his relationship with God.  I am too.  While praying for the Lord to give him mercy, also pray for him to realize his need for a savior.

Thanks for being there in intercession.

Thanks - Doris

Night of Anguish, Morning of Hope!

I am one of the women who watched the horrific crucifixion of the man we called Lord and Savior. I've cried until there are no tears left. My throat is dry; my tongue thirst for water, my headaches, my body is heavy with grieving.

You see I do remember hearing Him say, "That the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again."

But I was not prepared for the pain of seeing Him suffer in agony, crying out for thirst only to be given vinegar.

I knew the high priest and elders was not pleased with all the good He was doing. I just didn't know how far they would go to get rid of Him. Treating Him as a common thief, the lowest of the low, wanting Him to beg for His life.

It is dark now. An unusual darkness; A heavy thick darkness; A darkness I can feel in my flesh. There are a few lights in the city, but for the most part the earth has closed itself up as though grieving for its creator. The same with the skies. There are no stars out, the moon is hidden, in fact, the sun should be going down about now, but there is no more light at the end at the end of this day. Darkness came early.

I'm trying to think positive. I'm trying to visualize seeing Him again as He said. The Sabbath is still three days away, and I don't want to wait. My impatience is unchecked. I need to hear Him one more time; I need to see Him again at Martha's house. I want to sit at His feet and be blessed.

The Sabbath has passed.
"OK" I yell to Mary the Mother of Jesus, and Salome  who wait outside my door.
"I have been waiting for you".
We are on our way to the tomb of Jesus to anoint His body. The sun will be up in a little while, and already the darkness is dispelling - giving way to the glorious rays of the sun just below the horizon. There is something different about today.

I've spent time these past few days since the crucifixion thinking about what a mess I was in when I met Jesus. They said He cast seven devils from me. That is probably true. I needed a savior. I was so tormented and troubled. I was grievously afflicted by the evil spirits that indwelled me. People treated me like a crazy woman, throwing rocks at me and wishing me ill. I was an outcast until He came. I learned He had been searching for me. He has loved me from the foundation of the world. I could not understand. It still amazes me that someone who knows me, could love me anyway, with a love so powerful it became a healer of all my infirmities. Oh Thank you Lord Jesus for PEACE that passes understanding that will keep my heart until I see you again.

"The sun is up now", Mary the mother of Jesus is talking. "My spirit is lighter this morning. There is an excitement in me I have not felt in many days. Who will roll the stone away for us. Maybe some of the disciples will also be there."

We see the tomb. The stone has been moved away from the door. My eyes search for the linen cloth that has wrapped His body. We stand in silence, each of us allowing our eyes to gaze at the sight we see. We see a man in long white clothes setting on the stone, which had barred the door of His grave.

"Don't be afraid," he speaks. "I know why you are here. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth and I want you to know He has risen. Look here - see the place where He lay - He is not here."

I hear him but what he says is not registering with me. The surprise of seeing him here in the place where we were looking for Jesus is unnerving. He seems to read my thoughts.

"Don't be afraid. But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you."

We hurry from the empty tomb with our spices still in our basket. Mary the mother of Jesus ran ahead. Salome goes in another direction, while I Mary Magdalene, go to find Peter.

"Mary" someone calls my name.
"Yes," I respond.
"Do you know who I am"
"Yes, Lord. I would recognize you anywhere. There is something different about you though. There is a heavenly glow shrouding you. You are a wonderful sight to my eyes. I have missed you so."
"I am here for a little while. I want to see the disciples and encourage them. Will you go tell them you have seen me."

"Gladly Lord. I am willing to do anything you ask. I am your servant."

I really don't think things will ever be back to Normal again. When Jesus is present, excitement prevails. In His presence is peace. In His presence is Joy. In His presence fullness of joy and at His right had there are pleasures forever

The disciples are still mourning and grieving. Oh I can hardly wait to give them a message from Jesus. They probably won't believe me. However, I know what I saw, who I saw, and the message I carry is straight from Him.

"James, John, Peter, I need to talk with you." I stand outside the house waiting for permission to come in. The maid opens the door and inside are the disciples bent in prayer and weeping. They can't understand my jubilance. I'm sure it annoys them.

"Men, I have the most wonderful news.  I've just seen Jesus....."

"Oh Lord for this family I pray.  We could ask as Peter did, 'Lord where else can I go?', but we know our answer is in YOU Lord.  It is You that raises the dead to life again.  It is YOU Lord that heals a brain that is in danger.  It is YOU oh Lord, that releaves the suffering, restores bodies to wholeness again.  It is You - the God of all Gods, the Lord in whom we trust."

Dear Prayer Warriors
I posted a request on our Community of Intercessors page the other day. The following is in addition to what I told you then.

We are still in need of calling on God in Elizabeth's behalf. They practically re-made her heart and now a week later she is fighting staph infection which has caused 103 degrees of temperature and inspite of all she has been through, today they will install a pace makert. The Dr. had prepared for one during surgery, so the procedure to put it in now is not as extensive, but dreadfully necessary.

Below is the request as I received it.

Everyone please pray for Elizabeth. Heart surgery last Wed. still in ICU & heavily sedated. Running a fever of 103+. High-dose antibiotics but fever won't break. concerned the infection may have settled around her heart. Planning to insert the pace maker today...fever or not...this is a result of the damage during the... surgery to fix all the other problems. Please pray!!!!!! God is Able!.

Thanks again for praying.

Requests for March 8, 2010

Last week, while my computer was on the fritz, a young friend of mine had to have extensive heart surgery. One among many in her life, as her birth and life since has not been the best for Elizabeth. Elizabeth was supposed to be a healthy and happy baby girl 19 years ago at her birth. However it didn't take long for the Doctors to realize she was in trouble.

I am not sure of all the problems then, or even now, however Little Rock Children's Hospital has become her home away from home. Even though the calendar tells us she has celebrated her 19th birthday, we who know Elizabeth think of her as our little girl. And in stature she is. Her growth was stunned because of all her medical problems - so to everyone who meets her will also think of her as a little girl.

Her surgery lasted 17 1/2 hours last Wednesday. The Doctor said it was the longest on his record. As her family including two brothers, one sister-in-law, her mom and dad, grandparents, cousins and aunts along with friends came to wait the day, the room was often somber. No one wanting to think of the intensive procedure that was taking place behind closed doors a few feet away. Hourly reports came and with each report we were still wanting more. For the surgery to be over, Elizabeth well and healthy, and blowing bubbles from a Styrofoam cup into the air, pestering all the little boys; A beloved pastime of hers.

Five days later, she is still in a medical induced coma - or twilight sleep. Being guarded closely in the critical care unit, it became necessary for the surgeon to install a pacemaker  to assist in regulating her heart.  Her heart rate has slowed down to around 20, she has had to have units of blood (how many, I'm not sure) and she does respond with a head shake when asked a question.

I just learned that while her frail body is trying to recuperate from the surgery, she has come in contact with a staph infection.

This is why you are reading this today in a more lengthy request than usual. It is most important to pray for Elizabeth today, that God have His way. With all the people whose prayer requests line she is on, I know God is hearing those prayers. I believe God will continue to hear the prayers we submit to our Holy God that does all things well. I also believe that if she does not pull through, God had other plans.  That is not an "out" in case He doesn't heal her.  We can only ask and believe, and the rest is left up to Him.  I do know God is able to deliver Elizabeth to her family WHOLE.  I do know HE can stop the staph infection before it spreads.  Oh Yes, I serve a God who cares.  I also know He has the bigger picture that we are not privy to see!

For now howeverfor let us prpay to the God of Mercy

• to stay the hand of death
• bring healing of body, mind and spirit.
• Bring renewed strength to Mona, Elizabeth's mother.
• Guard the heart of both brothers and their father and grant them Peace at this time, and Grace to come boldly before the throne of God to ask His help.

Yours for Intercession,

Doris

March 5, 2010

God is so much bigger than our need.  Even though our circumstances seem to loom bigger than life to the point of overwhelming us, there is someone who will take our hand and lead us to the God that heals, the God who restores, who comforts, who holds us, who walks with us,  eradicates our fears and questions, and shows us just how little our circumstance is when we are in His care.  Intercessors and friends will take our hand and do just that.

I love that!  I wish I did not have to be reminded how important I am to Him, my Father, my Lord and Savior.  However in reading the Psalms this morning my spirit heard again His words from Psalms 103:14  "He knows our frame and remembers we are dust".

Most translations read the same.  He knows how frail I am.  He knows I would soon sink under a heavy load.  He knows we are easily broken down by the pressures of trials.  He remembers what we are made of - He remembers the dust that first formed man.

Often we don't recognize our frailties.  Often we attempt to solve our own problems with the underlying thought of "I got myself into this, it is left up to me to get myself out".  NO, NO, a thousand times NO.
He stands ready to take our hand when we try to "walk on water" and fail.  He stands ready to brush us off, heal the wounds other have caused, wipe our tears away when we grieve, and give us HIS strength to try again.

God is this and so much more.  Trust Him with your needs, your desires and yes your wants.

Prayer Request for February 24, 2010

Dear Prayer Partners,
This was in my inbox this morning.  In passing this along, we as women can understand the urgency of the need as well as our male intercessors.  Living in a period of the "unknown" while tests are being made may leave us in a quandry and almost fear.  However I remember the words from  Joh 8:32 "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."  This scripture was speaking of following Jesus who is TRUTH, and as we follow him all questions cease as we learn He is our brother and an intercessor and all darkness is dispelled in the light of HIM.
However, I  know also that when we know the truth about cancer, an unknown illness, or anything that is out there in the future cloaked in darkness to our understanding;  we are set free from the fear of those when we learn the truth.  In knowing the truth about our illnesses that we know so little about, or the sevierty of, the enemy of our soul cannot make it bigger than it is.  In knowing the truth, we also are better equipped to pray against the cancer.

Thanks for praying for Michelle and her sister.  God is greater than CANCER.  God is bigger than our fears or unrest.

This is from a homeschool friend Michelle…..

I found out today that my sister is having a biopsy on Thursday to determine what kind of breast cancer she has. She will likely have major surgery in two weeks or so.

I would really appreciate your prayers for her. Her name is Allisha McFarland and she lives in Spring, TX.

Please pray for Michelle as well as her sister. Michelle is very distraught.

Prayer Request for February 17, 2010

1.  I am asking everyone to pray for us. We are in what seems to be a power struggle with Axton's school these days. Nothing major from the outside, but it continues daily and is becoming almost a breaking point for me. I have tried to be as nice as I always am, but this has become out of control. Please pray that God's will is done and that Axton continues to have his needs met. We are also really seeking direction for his kindergarden year. It is fast approaching and I feel very unprepared and overwhelmed. It's a big choice as to where he goes and his placement.

Thank you so much. I am having an overwhelming day and just need a little help!

2.  Have a prayer request. Please join me in asking the Lord to save
Lance. That the Lord would intervene in his life & draw him 2 a saving
knowledge of Jesus Christ.  (It is not the Lord's will that any one be lost.  So we are praying HIS will when we ask HIM to save Lance.  dt)

3.  Please pray for Jacqui. She is going to court today. Her 20 yr
marriage is being dissolved.    (Oh Lord place ministering angels around Jacqui today making YOUR will be done. dt)

4.  Pray for Jerri that she would feel better, healthy & good & have
completeness in Him.  (OH Father for completeness in YOU.  It is our heart's desire for Jerri.  In finding completeness in You, I know you will bring health, and goodness, and an overall feeling of New Life.  dt)

NOTE:  Thanks everyone for praying for these precious people who need the favor of God to work in their behalf.  Each need could be overwhelming to the one standing in the middle of the circumstance, however you and I are going to undergird them through prayer.  God's ears are open to their/our cries, and His hand is not short.

Prayer Request for February 16, 2010

The following request just came in from my daughter's one-time room mate. She ask that our community of intercessors pray for this family.

On a personal note, I can not begin to imagine the tragedy this family has faced and is facing. I'm sure I would be crying out for answers - some ray of light that would give me hope for what lays ahead. Thank you for stopping now to carry this family on a pallet of prayer to Jesus who is the great Intercessor.

REQUEST
There is a family that I know in Little Rock. The son of this family was in a bad car wreck as a high school student about 5 years ago. The wreck left him brain injured and very dependent on someone to take care of him.

Yesterday, their daughter, the sister of this young man………was in a bad car wreck. She had to be med flighted to Baptist Hospital. She is only around 23 or 24 years of age. She is currently on a breathing machine and is showing bruising on the brain.

PLEASE, keep this family in your prayers. This is a horrible tragic accident. The only 2 children they have and both of them have been involved in bad accidents that have almost taken their lives. The extent of her damage is yet to be known. She is in ICU and until she is more stable, they really can’t determine much else.

Prayer requests

A request for prayer has just come in. Please pray for the following:

#1    Please pray for Tony Whitfield. He had brain cancer and has gone through treatments. This is the family that our local church helped purchase a kitchen stove/oven 2 Christmases ago. He has been doing well, but got news from a recent MRI that the area is retaining fluid. They are to watch him for negative symptoms and go back in 2 months for another MRI. God has really blessed this family & kept them through this. His wife asked that we pray for him that God would continue to keep him cancer free & as healthy as he can be.

#2     Please pray for Anna Lee Amsden she will be having back surgery on Feb 19.

We are in Oklahoma babysitting, so it shows that no matter where we are, our community of intercessors will always reach God on your behalf. Thanks for trusting us with your needs. God is Good and is a stronghold in the day of trouble.  We are Praying.  We believe that "Where two agree on earth on anything they ask, it shall be done..."

Please PRAY NOW!

A request came today.  A few people have found our site, however I know there are many more out there who are in need of a site like ours.  A group of people who know how to get in touch with God for needs.

The need I share today is this:  A very dear friend of mine since the early 1960's has melanoma cancer in several places in her body.  Mary has been strong through it all - declaring the love of God, and Jesus her friend.

Yesterday the Doctors put her in the hospital.  The Chemo was doing no good, the brain cancer has grown and to them there is no hope.  I am among the first who will Declare that God still does miracles.  I am a walking miracle myself.  However, in Mary's case, I feel the urgency to pray her demise be quick and the Lord be gentle when he reaches for her.

As of now, her daughters who have once known the Lord have chosen a different path than to fellowship with Him.  I'm praying they turned back to God for their comfort and answers to questions they must have.  I also pray for her husband, who has been there for her.  When we have been in his shoes, only then can we fellowship how the man needs rest, both mental and spiritual as well as physical.

Mary has a sister who also has stomach cancer.  Can you see how this whole family must be distraught?
There are three brothers and 3 sisters in this family.  With two of those sisters in poor health, with the possibility of losing either of them soon or later, this family NEEDS THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT to comfort them in this hours.  Help me carry them on a Pallet of Prayer!

Please pray:
"Father  may Your will be done in heaven and in earth.  May you gently lift Mary up into your arms when the time comes for her to pass.  May you fill the room where she is with YOUR sweet spirit so that her family will know you have come to take their Mother and wife, as well as bring them comfort.  May you give them grace  and presence of mind to do the necessary things to be done at a time like this.
In Jesus name I accept that Your will be done in all things concerning this family....."

Living by Faith

What does it mean to live by Faith?  We talk about it, but is there anyone who lives by Faith?

I'm going to venture a big YES to the question of does anyone actually live by faith anymore.  The Bible declares, (Heb 11:6) "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."

When we come to God in Prayer for anything - do we believe that He rewards those who seek Him diligently?  When we humble ourselves in prayer, do we believe that God IS, and Was, and IS to come?
Do we believe that God exist?  Do we believe that the Bible is HIS living Word?

If our answers to the above questions is yes, then we have Faith to believe that ANYTHING we have need of will come to pass because He rewards those who diligently seek Him and believe that He exist to reward those who believe.

Come Before Winter

I was reminded tonight during Bible Study, of Paul and his last years-days in prison.  He knew his time was drawing near to go before Nero and he also knew it could be his last visit with anyone before meeting his Lord face to face.  2Ti 4:6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. "

He calls for Timothy his Protégé or (his son in the faith) to come to him - bring his coat and his writing and reading materials.  The urgency of the letter to Timothy is my subject tonight.  2Ti 4:9 "Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me: "
2Ti 4:13 "The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, bring when thou comest, and the books, especially the parchments."

Come before winter".  "Come to me shortly" he said in the beginning of the 4th chapter of II Timothy.

He was feeling the urgency of his young friend Timothy to get to him soon, and come before bad weather.  The coat  would have come in handy during winter and the scrolls where his cherished documents.

Do we ever have an urgency to do something in particular?  Do we follow through?  Or do we think we will have plenty of time tomorrow.

I pray Timothy did go to be with his "father" in the faith.  I do hope he carried with him the cloak and books Paul requested.  I also pray he got there before Winter, and one last time had a heart to heart with Paul as he once had before Paul's imprisonment.

Don't be one of those that procrastinates.  Someone may need you before their time of departure.

On Wings of Prayer

Today I have gone where the weary are calling,
Where hopeless, forsaken, they plead for a ray
To light their dark pathway, and keep them from falling;
Oh, I have been there and have touched them today.

Oh, I have gone down where the drumbeats are sounding
Their message monotonous, dreary and forlorn,
of base superstition, of evil abounding,
Yes, I have been there, and a hope has been born.

I saw little children, their eyes old with sorrow;
So old, with a wisdm learned in sin's school.
I saw them today, I will see them tomorrow -
I cannot forget, for the sight is so cruel.

Each day I will go where the weary are calling;
Each day I lighten their loads of despair
I cannot forget, for the need is appaling;
Each day I will go on the strong wings of prayer!

Slow me down Lord.

I found this today while searching the internet.  The writer is given credit at the end.  The prayer spoke to me, and there is no way I could pass it up for posting here on a prayer blog.

“I am resting in your arms, Lord Jesus. You are my shield and protection. Only you know the outcome of my life. Please forgive me for the times when I have not been obedient to you. I know that you forgive me because you see my heart.

“May my heart and soul always find rest in you. Restore my body and soul as I continue doing the work you have planned for me. Though my body is sometimes weak, I can call on you anytime to refresh me. Everything around me is hectic, but with you, there is joy and peace.

“I thank you for the peace that comes only from knowing you. May others get to experience your peace in their lives.

“I am resting in you, O Lord, my savior and deliverer.”

The prayer is excerpted from "Shaped by Fait" by Theresa Rowe.

* * *
Slow me down, Lord. Ease the pounding of my heart by the quieting of my mind.... Teach me the art of taking minute vacations: of slowing down to look at seashells, to chat with a friend, to pet a dog.... Let me look up into the towering oaks and know they grew great and strong because they grew slowly and well

Standing in the Need of Prayer.

"It's me, Its me O Lord, standing in the need of prayer" is a song we sang years ago. However, these words came again to me as I opened up the blog. Anyone reading the words could easily say the same.

My heart has been ever so heavy as I watch the news coming off the TV. I watched this morning as the big machines dug the massive graves where many bodies will be entombed. Oh, the devastation in Haiti still hurts as I listen and visualize myself there.

"Except for the grace of God, there go I" is another line that has returned to me. There is no one better than another in God's sight, we all need Jesus. Some have heard of the Good news of the Gospel, where others have not, nonetheless, now is the time for those who have not heard of Jesus the Gentle Shepherd to be ministered to. In Haiti, their is help arriving around the clock, and soon it will be organized so that anyone needing a Doctor will have one. Anyone needing a drink of water will have plenty. And those who are hungry will be fed. I am touched by the outpouring of love and support coming from many areas of this world - each willing to help as much as possible, and hopefully stay for the long run.

Another earthquake hit Guatemala today as well. Too early to have heard anything about its devastation. And dear reader, even though we know the Bible tells us these things will happen before Jesus comes back, "wars and rumor of wars, earthquakes in different places..." it doesn't make the trauma of it all any easier to take in.

Thanks for continuing to pray for Haiti, and now Guatemala.

Haiti - Oh How we need to pray.

It goes without saying, that Haiti is in need of our prayers and support.  There are several missionaries who have lived there among the people, sharing their lives, sharing their culture, and most of all they share Christ.  I know their families would appreciate prayer.

If you want to help and not sure just how, here is an address for you to contact.  Much or little will be appreciated - if we all put our resources together - our little becomes a lot.  Pray for this to wake up those who don't know or have rejected Christ.  After all this is settled down somewhat, their ears will be ready to hear the Gospel, after they have been fed, warmed, and rested.  Thank you for praying.

Through Windows of Hope!

Today we will talk of HOPE. Not like a child closing his eyes, and making a wish at Christmas for a new bike to be under the tree. No, Hope that is alive and well and drawing a picture so as to set one's gaze on the prize.

Psa 39:7 And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
Psa 71:5 For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.
Psa 71:14 But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.
Psa 119:114 Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
Psa 119:116 Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.
Psa 130:5 I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.   (Read this again!)

Jer 17:7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

Lam 3:26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
Act 2:26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
Rom 8:25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.  (Read that again)

Rom 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Col 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

Reading the Word - brings HOPE.  After we've prayed then we picture ourselves being well.  We picture our lost loved ones coming to Christ.  We picture our needs being met.  In picturing it done, our Hope arises and keeps Faith alive.

Healing Scriptures

Pro 3:7 Never let yourself think that you are wiser than you are; simply obey the LORD and refuse to do wrong.
Pro 3:8 If you do, it will be like good medicine, healing your wounds and easing your pains.

Mal 4:2 But for you who obey me, my saving power will rise on you like the sun and bring healing like the sun's rays. You will be as free and happy as calves let out of a stall.

Mat 4:23 Jesus went all over Galilee, teaching in the synagogues, preaching the Good News about the Kingdom, and healing people who had all kinds of disease and sickness.

Luk 6:19 All the people tried to touch him, for power was going out from him and healing them all.

Act 10:38 You know about Jesus of Nazareth and how God poured out on him the Holy Spirit and power. He went everywhere, doing good and healing all who were under the power of the Devil, for God was with him.

Ki 13:6 King Jeroboam said to the prophet, "Please pray for me to the LORD your God, and ask him to heal my arm!" The prophet prayed to the LORD, and the king's arm was healed.
Psa 30:2 I cried to you for help, O LORD my God, and you healed me;
Our Healing has been Paid For: Isa 53:5 But because of our sins he was wounded, beaten because of the evil we did. We are healed by the punishment he suffered, made whole by the blows he received.

Isa 58:8 "Then my favor will shine on you like the morning sun, and your wounds will be quickly healed. I will always be with you to save you; my presence will protect you on every side.

Mat 4:24 The news about him spread through the whole country of Syria, so that people brought to him all those who were sick, suffering from all kinds of diseases and disorders: people with demons, and epileptics, and paralytics---and Jesus healed them all.

Mat 8:3 Jesus reached out and touched him. "I do want to," he answered. "Be clean!" At once the man was healed of his disease.

Mat 14:14 Jesus got out of the boat, and when he saw the large crowd, his heart was filled with pity for them, and he healed their sick.

Mat 15:28 So Jesus answered her, "You are a woman of great faith! What you want will be done for you." And at that very moment her daughter was healed.

Luk 4:40 After sunset all who had friends who were sick with various diseases brought them to Jesus; he placed his hands on every one of them and healed them all.

Mat 21:14 The blind and the crippled came to him in the Temple, and he healed them.

Mar 5:29 She touched his cloak, and her bleeding stopped at once; and she had the feeling inside herself that she was healed of her trouble.

Luk 4:40 After sunset all who had friends who were sick with various diseases brought them to Jesus; he placed his hands on every one of them and healed them all.

Today - read these scriptures - read them again - memorize them - make them a part of your thinking through meditation.
