URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

Karen is a long time friend to our family, especially our children.  Please pray with me, that wherever she is she is safe and will be found alive.  It is totally unlike her to walk away from her children, but pray with me that the Lord has her in his protective custody.

Thanks, I'll try to keep you posted.

Prayer Need for December 10, 2010

Dear Friends and fellow Intercessors,

Tonight I received a call from a dear friend in Louisiana.  Our friendship goes back to the 1970's when I met Don and Vera Wells.  We worked together in State missions for about 20 years, including youth camps and Ladies Retreats.

After retiring they felt the need to move near their daughter and family in Louisiana.  They have continued to be active in the work of the Lord.

Recently Vera went to the emergency because of being jaundice.  From the emergency room she was admitted to the hospital.  Test results found an embedded kidney stone which had caused her kidney to enlarge.  The Doctors' placed a stint to bring about drainage to give her some relief.  She said at first there was pure blood, but now her kidney function is fine and there is no trace of blood.

Other test results, revealed a mass in/on/around other organs such as her gall bladder, pancreas, and liver.  The test results have not come back - but after praying with her on the phone tonight, I told her I would also call on my community of intercessors to pray.

This is what we asked the Lord for.  Would you please join us in agreeing in prayer for the same.

Pray that:  the mass is not cancer.  God can do this for Vera His child.

I'll keep you posted as she continues to give me updates.

Thanks for praying for one of God's little warriors and missionaries.

Schelly -

"Please pray for my friend Schelly. She is extremely nauseated from the chemo." was sent to me today.

Friends of Schelly are reaching out to us for prayer.  Please intercede for this young woman whom we may never meet.  It really doesn't matter.  I can not put a face with her name, but I know that our Lord knows her by name, and knew her name when she was in her mother's womb.

A God so all knowing, knows she is extremely sick from the chemo.  We must pray that God gives her Grace to stand, and also that He would cause the nausea to nil.

Thanks

A note from Schelly

I received this only this morning.  For those of you who have called Shelly's name in prayer, I thank you.  My heart melts with hers as she battles the unknown.  Please keep her on your mind, and her list below will serve as a reminder of how to pray.  Agreeing together on her behalf is what our support scripture means, "where even two agree on earth as thouching anything they shall ask, it shall be done."

Yours for intercession,
Doris

First I want to thank each of you who has emailed me or prayed for me. The support has helped my morale more than you know.

I met my Oncologist, Dr. Makhoul, today and he is fabulous. I wish I could say the same for this disease. I hate it. With every fiber of my being I hate it.

Some things are still unknown. We do know it is a Grade 3, which is the fastest-growing and most aggressive form of cancer, but it also usually the most responsive to Chemo.

I have a PET Scan and Brain MRI on Wed to see if it has spread, plus a nuclear heart test to see if my heart can withstand one of the chemo drugs. The plan now is to use 3 different chemo drugs, with treatments every 2 weeks for a total of 8 sessions.

I hope to start Chemo next Friday.

They will stage the cancer after the PET. Tentatively it is stage IIB (being just under the wire for stage III at 4.9 cm versus 5 cm). If the PET shows it has spread, is is automatically stage IV and it would be up to God to heal me at that point. I won't find out the results until next Friday. It will be a very long 8 days.

A sweet friend suggested I come up with specific prayer requests for those that are praying for me. I welcome any all prayers, but these are my specific prayers.

1. For God to be made known throughout this entire ordeal to those watching it and especially to my children.

2. That I will lean on Him like I never have before. That I will allow Him to comfort me instead of seeking other outlets so I can teach that to my children.

3. That the PET scan will be clear and it has not spread.

4. That the Chemo will kill the beast. I mean kill it DEAD!!

5. That I will not have a reaction to any of the medications.

6. That I will learn how to ask others for help (This is VERY hard for me).

7. That I will have the time and energy to continue to school and hang with my precious boys.

8. That I will have the time to work enough each week to keep sales coming in.

9. That this will bring my family closer together.

10. That I will remember to laugh.

Schelly

Prayer needs for October 28, 2010

There are several prayer needs to pass on to you this morning.

1.  One of my son-in-law's is a Dyalisis nurse.  Having to wash his hands so often between patients, his hands have become raw almost to the point of un-usuable.  Please pray for him - that his hands will be restored to their God given skin without irritation.

2.  AIMEE IS DOING GREAT !! BUT BOB JUST EMAILED ME. HE HAS BEEN UNDER A LOT OF STRESS FOR THE PASS 8 MONTHS. HIS JOB PLAYED OUT, HE'S HAS REALLY BEEN STRUGGLING. BOB HAS HAD A HEART ATTACK BEFORE, WITH THIS EXTRA STRESS CAUSING CHEST PAINS. HE WENT TO THE DR FOR ANOTHER STRESS TEST 5 MONTHS AGO, THEN WENT TODAY THE DR. COMPARED IT FROM THE LAST ONE DONE. THE DR IS PUTTING HIM IN THE HOSPITAL TONIGHT DOING BLOOD WORK AND TOMORROW DOING A HEART CATH. HE ASKED ME TO CONTACT YOU ALL FOR PRAYERS FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY.

3.  BOB, AIMEE'S DAD, JUST EMAILED ME FROM HIS PHONE IN THE HOSPITAL THAT "TOMORROW " HE IS HAVING QUADRUPLE BYPASS SURGERY ! AND ASK IF YOU ALL WOULD PRAY FOR HIM.

So there we have all three needs.  What if - just WHAT IF - these people only had you and I to pray for them?  WHAT IF - their answer was dependent on my and your prayers?

With that in mind, let's earnestly intercede for them, that God would bring Bob through the bypass surgery to full recovery and health.  That my son-in-law would receive restoration healing in his hands.  Our God can do this. OUR GOD is a Healer.  He is also a restorer -  He still touches, and He still CARES for those who are physically hurting.

Yours for intercession,
Doris

Schelly needs us again. Please Pray

Hello friends,

It pains me to read the new note from Schelly.  Please do not fail to pray to this young woman who is reaching out for support.  Often at times like this I feel helpless, until I remember that what I have to offer her is the most powerful of all aid - PRAYER.  Again, she needs us, strangers that we are, so take her on a pallet of prayer to the HEALER.  Often we seek healing on the behalf of others, however I want us to refocus and seek the HEALER on her behalf.  Thanks again for joining with me in prayer.  I will post anything about her that I receive so as to keep you updated.

Yours for intercession
Doris

Hello all. I greatly appreciate all who are praying for me. This is all happening so fast that it is hard to take it all in.

I was not comfortable with the general surgeon I was sent to concerning my situation so I called UAMS Breast Center first thing this morning and have been there all day.

There are either, 2 masses one on top of the other, Or it is just one mass and they could only see part of it on my previous test and goes much deeper than it showed originally. The surgeon thinks it is the latter.

He did 5 needle biopsies of each mass or section and they are both 100 percent positive for cancer. It is invasive cancer, and not in situ, meaning it has spread outside of the ducts. At this point that is all they know. The full pathology report will tell different things about it, like whether it is hormonal growth based and will respond to anti-hormone meds. That will be back in 4 or 5 days.

I am having an MRI tomorrow to see if it has spread to my chest wall and I am going to Pre-Op tomorrow and they will do a chest xray, EKG & bloodwork.

On Friday, I am having a lymph node biopsy under anesthesia and they are injecting one color dye in my breast and another color in my arm to isolate the infected lymph nodes (if any) and to try to spare my arm nodes if possible. Injecting the second dye in the arm is actually experimental and I will be part of a research study. The problem with this is that people allergic to shellfish or make-up tend to be allergic to the second dye. I am allergic to shellfish... But they will have anti-allergy meds standing by. He left the choice up to me, but taking too many lymph nodes in the arm can lead to Lymphedema with arm swelling and it is very hard to treat. I chose the allergy risk over that.

He highly recommended chemo before removing the mass/breast for 2 reasons. 1) It will help with any cancer that might have spread. 2) Having a mass that can be measured will tell them in advance of the surgery which chemo drugs the cancer responds to. So, they will also put in a port on Friday and I should see an Oncologist next week.

This is totally different than the course of action recommended by the first surgeon and I am SO GLAD I went to UAMS.   (note:  University of Arkansas Medical Science)

I am exhausted.

Prayer request Oct. 15, 2010

Hello Fellow Intercessors,

Today I received the following prayer request.  This being breast cancer awareness month, makes this request very timely.  While many people are walking in "Race for the Cure" tomorrow morning here in LR., it would be a great opportunity to pray for this need.

How scared she must be - being a single mom who is trying to juggle her responsibilities, we never seem to make time for ourselves and for sure the scare of breast cancer can be very unsettling.

"OH Lord of Love, our Great God of compassion, It is YOU oh Lord who lifts us up, restores relationships, heals bodies and even raises the Dead.  It is YOU oh Lord, to whom we turn when our situations are overwhelming, and troubles intrude on our lives that are too big for us the mortals we are.
I praise you for all the prayers you have answered for me, I praise you for your intervention in my life when I was face with surmountable mountains too big for me to climb, the times when you came and walked beside me, encouraging me to keep moving.  It is You I need today for our friend Schelly who needs peace.  Your Peace that passes our understanding.  Your Peace Oh Lord to clothe her as in a warm blanket.  Surround her with people who care, and people who will encourage her to KEEP trusting YOU.  It is YOU who Heals, it is YOU who guides the surgeons hands.  It is YOU Oh Lord, that can make this knot, or lump to be benign - only a cyst.
Lord I thank you that you have heard this prayer from my heart.  I bring Schelly to You, for You are the Healer.  Thank you Lord for answering our prayer.  I trust you.
In Jesus Name, Amen

Schelly's Request in her words.
On Tuesday I found a very large, hard lump in my chest. I had a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound today.

It is a fast-growing and irregular shaped solid mass and they will be sending me for a biopsy at a breast surgeon. Probably not until next week.

It is all happening so fast and I am trying to keep it together.

For those of you who don't know, I am a single work-at-home mom who home schools her two boys. Life is already a struggle juggling homeschooling, running a household and working.

I am having a hard time with this, and the waiting is a killer.
I greatly appreciate your prayers.

Schelly
